OK, so my favourite place to be and moment to be in the park is…I don’t think it’s very well known but it’s just past the Beacon and down Cedar Drive, and there’s a little group of redwood logs that we put there, and it’s the outdoor classroom that I use to carry out and deliver bushcraft days and the John Muir award with the guys from Park Community School. And it’s my favourite place because you often go there and there’s a buzzard who lives nearby and he just kind of sweeps in every now and again and if you’re just sat there by yourself that’s pretty magic. But also it feels like a really grounding place and often I go there and … well often I have to go and pick up litter, because someone has always been there before me! But it’s quite nice to kind of take care of that space.

We asked Katrina the Community Engagement leader for her favourite time and place in the park. She chose a spot that is quite off the beaten track for most people, but well known to anyone who has done bushcraft lessons or the John Muir award, out on Cedar Drive.

Do you have a 'park moment' to share? Let us know, and we'll add it in.

Katrina talks about the park's activities in promoting environmental knowledge and activities. If you are interested in setting up new events or discovering existing ones such as the John Muir award, why not send an enquiry or come in to the office.

There is a wide range of activities to join in, whether you are an individual, a school or a group of like-minded enthusiasts.
