Park Moments

...a layer of snow over the park...

The Education Team's perfect moments

Make sure your volume is on: "...there's a buzz about the place, new life..."

I think for me, and I think this has got to do because I’m a winter baby, mine’s when there’s a layer of snow over the whole park and you’re the first person, because you’re out here first thing, and you’re crunching through it and it’s…oh, that’s amazing.

And it’s really quiet. I think the best time is probably… I would say winter as well, but probably it would be the sort of spring/summertime when all the flowers are coming out and there’s a buzz about the place [It’s about new life, isn’t it]. The park is busy, and I’m not just talking about the people, it’s busy with wildlife and when you see children, and they see butterflies floating all about the place, they love it, and it’s amazing. So I think that springtime, warm day, butterflies and bees are hard at work.

We asked the Education Team for their favourite time and place to be in the park. They both instinctively chose the winter season, although for different reasons. For Becky it was the joy of being the first person to walk on freshly-fallen snow, while for Lottie the joy came from the first signs of spring breaking through.

Do you have a 'park moment' to share? Let us know, and we'll add it in.

The Education team do a great job making the park accessible and fun for children. You can learn how to make a shelter from fallen branches, go on a hunt for wildlife, or study how trees, insects and animals form a balanced ecology (with a little help from the park rangers).

If you would like to bring a school group to the park, or take part in one of the children's activities organised throughout the year, get in touch with the Education Team to find out more. Click Here.
